In-furrow and 2×2 applications of fertilizer are nothing new. These systems were originally designed to place P fertilizer close to the seed. With the technology available today, in-furrow and 2×2 systems can be used for much more than just fertilizer. These systems can now be used as delivery vehicles to help manipulate a plant early in its life cycle.
Biologicals, biostimulants, phytohormones, micronutrients, etc. are all phenomenal means to improve the early life and overall performance of a crop. By manipulating a plant early in its life cycle, we are often able to promote faster growth, which in turn leads to greater plant mass, which captures more sunlight and produces more energy for the plant. With these early changes, we set in motion a plan for a season-long performance.
